In 1976, Jerry and Sigrid Seps fell in love with an abandoned former winery located in the mountains above Calistoga - northwest Napa- and purchased a 90 acre parcel. They renamed it Storybook Mountain to pay tribute to the scenic beauty and honor the original founders. Storybook Mountain is located on an eastern slope of the Mayacamas Range whose ridges separate Napa from Sonoma. Zinfandel has been planted here, on red clay-loam hillsides since the early 1880's, and the estate's sought-after wines are carefully handcrafted from certified organic vineyards surrounding the winery.
The same structure, finesse, and purity of fruit that have long characterized Storybook Mountain Zinfandels are evident in this Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. These qualities reflect the estate vineyard's relatively cool climate, its clay-loam soils, and its easterly and northerly exposures.
