This adorable brand and label is owned by Michael and Lauri Corliss, who own two boutique wineries in eastern Washington. Brilliantly crafted by their winemaking team at Tranche Cellars, Secret Squirrel is made from declassified estate fruit from the Red Mountain and Walla Walla Valley AVAs. The 2014 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon plus Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The visual and aromas are bold, dark and rich, with powerful flavors of blackberry, black currant and dark plum accented by notes of tobacco and spice. Despite the depth of flavor, Secret Squirrel is vibrant and fresh - firm enough for a steak, but not too tannic or dense to sip solo, or alongside sharp cheeses and cured meats.
