Founded in 1998 by Giovanni Centonze, this family winery released their first Frappato in 2008 from organically grown grapes. The autochthonous Sicilian grape yields a red wine of exuberant strawberry fruit, herbs and wild flower aromas. Spry on the palate and slightly reminiscent of Gamay, DNA studies suggest a genetic link to Sangiovese. There are only about 800 hectares of Frappato planted on the island--less than 1% of Sicily's total vineyard area. Only 500 cases produced.
