Established in 1890, Bodegas Riojanas was the result of a collaboration between the Frias Artacho family and Catalan businessman Rafael Carreras. Their contributions and presense has been a cornerstone of Rioja’s overall success; having played a role in the foundation of key associations including the Rioja Wine Exporters Syndicate in 1907, as well as promoting and protecting the development of the Designation of Origin itself- the family aided in the birth of the DO in 1926. The 2001 Vina Albina Reserva Semi- Dulce is light on its feet-sweet, a blend of 90% Viura and 10% Malvasia de Rioja late (hand) harvested from estate vineyards in Cenicero. Pair with spicy appetizers or serve alongside a mixed cheese course with dried apricots and gs.
