Unwined’s Top 5 Holiday Wine Dos and Don’ts
We’re in the home stretch. In the next six days, you’ll likely either be giving a bottle of wine, or opening one (or several) so in true Unwined fashion, we want to make your task a little easier.
1. Do give wine you love or know. If someone brought a bottle to your house two years ago and you haven’t opened it, there’s a reason. It’s tempting, but don’t put a bow on it and call it a hostess gift.
2. Unless he tells you exactly what wine he wants, don’t give a Napa Cab to your brother-in-law with a California wine obsession. It’s likely he has spent more time touring Napa wineries than most people have spent thinking about wine. It’s better to let us suggest a perfect wine from somewhere else that he will love. Really.
3. Do give Port to a Port lover.
4. Don’t bust your budget. There’s good wine at all price ranges. With that said, you can tell the difference between a $10, $20, and $50 bottle. This time of year we often hear “is it really worth it?” Well that depends. We won’t steer you wrong either way.
