A fourth generation family estate established in 1978, Domaine Berthet Rayne includes 25 hectares in northern Chateauneuf du Pape and surrounding appellations. The vineyards here are certified biodynamic and the soil is rocky with ancient river bed stones, pebbles and some limestone. All wines are vinified in traditional cement vats and both whites and reds are typically aged in tank to promote freshness and purity of fruit. Bursting with orange and papaya, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc, is a rare and delicious blend of Bourboulenc, Clairette, Clairette Rose, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. It is forward and round, a charming wine that can be enjoyed solo on a cool night or served with rich seafood, pork and poultry dishes.
