A Touriga Vai Nua, or “The Touriga Goes Naked”, is famed Portuguese winemaker Antonio Macanita’s wink and a nod to tradition, crafting something that is at once both classic and modern. He takes the warmth and ripeness of the southern Alentejo region and uses it to great effect in this fresh yet lush expression of Portugal’s king of grapes, Touriga Naçional. The 2016 Fita Preta A Touriga Unoaked is crafted from 30+ year old vines grown on schist, rocky soil at 300-400 meters. Partial carbonic, whole cluster fermentation, and a mere 3 month elevage in stainless steel are employed to offer an expression light on its feet, and lovely with charcuterie, fish stews and well -seasoned rice dishes.
